Look-alikes Kamal and Ramesh (Shashi Kapoor) love the same girl Archana (Babita)
who has eyes only for Kamal. But even she cannot tell one from the other. The
evil Ramesh takes advantage of his resemblance to Kamal and becomes a thorn in
Kamal’s side at every turn. Kamal enlists himself in the army during the India
China war and once again Ramesh tries to kill him. They confront each other in a
muddy pond and only one of them comes out. Is it Kamal or Ramesh? From this
scene onwards, Prakash Mehra directing his debut film, throws his audience into
suspense. His trademark situation of the hero with an unknown parentage makes
itself evident from this film itself. Kalyanji - Anandji’s tunes include the
moving Mohammed Rafi tune ‘Bekhudi Mein Sanam’.
