Pukar (The Calling) is an elaborate tale of one man finding and answering his
own Pukar. As a young boy Ramdas (Amitabh) watches his revolutionary father
killed by his own comrade. Ramdas grows up hating everything about
revolutionaries and all they stand for, he even changes hi sname to Ronnie.
Ronnie grows from a young street urchin to become a powerful crime boss and
businessman who is revered in all of Goa and by the Portugese government. He is
a charitable man, although selfish in his giving, who does all he can to aid the
government in eliminating the revolutionaries.
That is until a dshing young man named Shekhar (Randhir Kapoor) takes up arms in
Goa's cause. The people are so moved by his selfless love for his country and
desire for freedom that they are willing to for go all that Ronnie has done for
them. After his own girlfriend Julie (Zeenat Aman) betrays him for Sekhar,
Ronnie realizes that all his fame and power is nothing compared to the fame and
power of Sekhar and his cause. It is only after he himself captures Sekhar and
sends him to the noose that he sees his errors and changes his way. His PUKAR
has beconed him, but can Ronnie now save Shekhar and Goa from the death grip of
