Janki (Nutan) overcomes social barriers to adopt the son of her husband's dead
mistress. She brings up the boy Ravi (Kumar Gaurav) along with her own son Vicky
(Sanjay Dutt). When Ravi discovers the truth, it brings him closer to Janki. He
vows to do everything he can for her and Vicky. Vicky goes to Dubai to work but
finds himself stranded without proper travel documents. He falls into the
treacherous web of drug trafficking in order to make money.
Sent to Hong Kong to make a deal, he falls in love with a young girl in a
similar situation (Amrita Singh). Janki gets worried when she does not hear from
him for a long time. Ravi sets out to find him....Pankaj Udhas's chartbusting
tender melody 'Chitti Aayi Hai' adds to the appeal of this moving family drama
with a sensitive performance by Nutan, Kumar Gaurav and Sanjay Dutt.
