Arjun and Karan (Akshay Kumar) are brothers and cops. During an investigation Goli (Shakti Kapoor), an underworld don, murders Arjun. Angered by his brother’s death, Karan traces Mona (Shilpa Shetty), the sole eye withness to the murder. Since Goli and his men cannot afford to have Mona taken to court, they find Mona and kill her inspite of a desperate attempt by Karan to save her. Karan loses his only withness and is a very broken and frustrated man. Meanwhile, Deepak Kumar (Saif Ali Khan), a star frustrated with the type of characters he is asked to portray, wants a break form his romantic image. Deepak sees Karan in action against some bad elements. He decides there and then that this is the character that will help him reach the pinnacle of success and glory.

Using his connections, Deepak lives with Karan for a month, in order to get into the skin of the character that he dreams of playing on screen.Meanwhile Karan, totally obsessed with his investigation, feels Deepak to be a liability but is forced by his superiors to tag along with him. Karan comes across a street dancer Basanti (Shilpa Shetty) who has a startling resemblance to Mona. He convinces her to become Mona and takes Deepak's help to turn her into a sauve, svelvte and sophisticated cabaret dancer. A deal is struck and Deepak trains Basanti...
