It's the story of Ramprasad (Paresh Rawal), a popular novelist specializing
in crime thrillers who finds himself getting redundant. This is because the
choice of the readers has shifted from thrills and chills to mushy love stories.
Editor Popatlal (Rakesh Bedi) believes that Ramprasad is incapable of changing
from Perry Mason to the Mills & Booms genre. At this point, Ramprasad takes up
the challenge of penning a mushy masterpiece.
He decides to look around for a romantic couple that would become the base for
his story. In his endeavors, he stumbles upon Vishal (Amarr Upadhyay) and
Priyanka (Rima Sen), who live in his neighborhood. The parents (Gulshan Grover
and Tiku Talsania) of the boy and the girl are old friends and also partners in
business. Against the wishes of their children, both decide to get them married.
The kids strike a deal with Ramprasad that if he helps them break this impending
marriage, they would in turn tell him about their romances, which would give him
the required story.
Inspite of Ramprasad's endeavors, the fathers refuse to budge and the couple
gets engaged. The criminal genius of Ramprasad starts hatching a masterplan. His
idea is to break the friendship of the fathers and create a divide in the two
families. He plants a look alike of the girl's father, which makes it a cakewalk
for him to implement his plan. However, his success is short-lived as the most
unexpected happens – Vishal and Priyanka fall in love. Now, the role is reversed
and he is called upon to reunite the warring families.
The confusion erupts when the look alike refuses to admit his true identity.
How, the novelist, the hero and the heroine get further tangled into the
confusion and the mayhem created to identify the true father…
the families, not believing the novelist , decide to get the hero and the
heroine separated and get their children married elsewhere…
on the day of the marriage, amongst the confusion and mayhem of all the
characters, the hero and the heroine unite, the families unite and Ramprasad
gets the love story he required, is the essence of the film.
