Rita's parents want her to marry, but she goes on a vacation to Srinagar. There,
a poor boatman Raja falls in love with her. One day she leaves for Bombay, but
Raja is hopeful that she might return. She comes back with Kishore, who does not
like Raja. He saves her in an accident. Raja then follows Rita to Bombay and is
educated, but he finds out quickly that East is East and West is West.
