When the headlights of Amit’s car fill the vast expanse of the road ahead of
him, he and his wife Sheela are shocked to find a man being murdered by an
unknown person whom they fail to see properly because of the blinding swiftness
of the incident.
Before Amit could reach the spot, the killer bolts away in car leaving behind
Amit and his wife to fend for themselves. Amit brings the unconscious man to a
hospital, but soon finds out that he had unknowingly walked into a dreadful
situation.
The same night Amit receives a mysterious phone call. The person on the line
warns him of grave consequences if he did not surrender a piece of paper which
the unconscious man had dropped in Amit’s car. Amit dismisses the phone call as
a caper of some prankster, but when the threats are repeated, he reports the
matter to police.
Inspector Jadhav, who had been assigned to the case, consoles Amit and give him
a personal assurance that nothing would happen to him, his wife or his only son
Bunty. He further tells Amit that every care would be taken to protect him and
his family from the unknown killer. But, next morning, Amit’s dog is found
poisoned. A sense of terror and insecurity grips the family. If the killer could
could do it to the dog, he could do it to their son as well.
Soon after, Amit’s son is kidnapped, the man on the phone offers Amit a deal: if
Amit kills the unconscious man in the hospital, his son would spared otherwise
the child too would die the dog’s death. Helpless Amit accepts the
deal.......here the story takes a dramatic turn. For a scene by- sceane
narration of the thrilling and gripping story, that revolves around splendid
performances by Amitabha Bachchan and Moushmi Chatterji, see “BENAAM”.
