Basically, Aanch is a love story set in the background of hatred, it draws its
inspiration from the real incidents that still happen in some parts of rural
Uttar Pradesh. Nana Patekar and Paresh Rawal play the two village heads that are
constantly at loggerheads with each other. The two rival heads hate each other
so intensly that their hatred and inflated egos ruin the lives of those who are
around them. Suchindra Bali and Sharbani Mukherjee play the romantic lead.
Sanjeev-Darshan have scored the music for Aanch and the album is nothing to hum
about. The only highlight of the album is the song 'Sun mori raani' that has
been sung by Nana Patekar and Poonam Jhawer who has not only produced but also
acted in the film. Raajesh Kumar Singh who scripted shows like Surf Dhamaka and
the first soap of Indian television Shanti for Doordarshan directs the film. He
has also written and adapted plays like Investigations of Dog, The Horse and
Jonathan Livingston Seagull for theatre. As a director of Aanch he paves his way
into Bollywood.
