SARFAROSH (REBEL AHEAD) is a work of fiction based on facts. For the first time
a Hindi film dares to take an honest and courageous look at some of the real
reasons behind terrorism and insurgency in our land. It shows how guns and drugs
are smuggled in, across the border of Rajasthan, and reaching the interiors of
India SARFAROSH is the story of an honest, young man, Ajay (Aamir Khan) whose
life is never the same after an encounter with terrorists leaving in its wake -
a dead brother and a paraplegic father. Despite the odds, Ajay finds ... a
reason to live. The film unfolds in the dense forests bordering Maharashtra and
Andhra Pradesh and then moves to the majestic deserts of Rajasthan, to the
streets of Delhi and the underbelly of Mumbai. ACP Rathod and his band of CBI
officers, Including Inspector Salim (Mukesh Rishi) have vowed to spread this
proxy war which is waged upon their motherland - India. Though the canvas is
vast, the narration of the film, under the direction of John Matthew, is fast
paced and dramatic. Sarfarosh features excellent performance by Naseeruddin shah
whose brilliance can be seen as a ghazal singer, where his performance is soft,
and yet remarkable in its intensity. Sonali Bendre brings joy, cheer, and love
every time she comes on the screen. Aamir Khan stands apart, essaying a role
that is credible and taut, keeping your guessing about his next move. Now, brace
yourself for this gripping story as it unfolds.
